The National Monuments Service's description
This monument was excavated (Licence no. 04E1604) in advance of development. A multi-period site, this sub-rectangular enclosure (10.5m x 0.3m) was located to the SW of outer enclosure (DU012-094003-) although was interpreted as contemporary with inner enclosure (DU012-0003). There was a concentration of pits and postholes in the internal NW corner. A copper alloy fastener or brooch was recovered from the fill of the enclosure ditch. A radiocarbon date of 1109-1173 AD was obtained from the ditch fill. The presence of numerous cattle heads indicated butchery and potential craft-working may have been undertaken here (Halliday 2008, 32).
