The National Monuments Service's description
This monument was excavated (Licence no. 04E1066) in advance of development. (Giacometti 2005). It consisted of a circular ditch (20m diam.) with a 3m wide entrance to the south-east. A single large pit filled with charcoal and burnt bone was found in the centre of the ring-ditch. Truncated by modern agricultural activity the ditch averaged 0.25m in depth. Fragments of Bronze Age pottery were recovered from the N end of the fill. A single oval pit (1.9m x 1.7m x 0.45m deep) was located centrally within the area enclosed by the ring-ditch. It was an irregular oval shape and measured 1.9m long (N-S) by 1.7m wide and 0.45m deep. Small fragments of possible Bronze Age pottery were also retrieved from the pit. The pit was irregular shape, suggesting numerous cuts, and it is suggested that it functioned as a multiple burial pit (Giacometti 2005).
