In Charleville. Two-storey residential house, part of terrace set back from street line on old Limerick road. Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map and named 'Post Office'. Front elevation (E) of 3 bays; plate glass sash windows. Central round-headed door ope with fanlight: Doric pillars support moulded surround of fanlight; prominent key stone inscribed 'J.B. 1825' with rosette over. Central coursed ashlar chimney stack with some brick. Stone wall, with limestone piers, encloses front garden. House to S, of similar dimensions with brick chimneys on gables. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000).
