The National Monuments Service's description
On semi-karst ground in rough pasture, at the N end of a damp rush-covered area with some periodic surface water and land rising to the N. On the 1897 25-inch OS plan a spring is marked c. 30m to the NW. Indicated on a Geological Survey of Ireland map, and also reported by Tom Coffey (SMR file). Listed as one of several ‘Fulachta fiadh’ in the RMP (1996) under the number (CL010-101----). This fulacht fia comprises a large grass-covered oval mound (22m E-W; 13m N-S; H 0.7-1.7m) with several large stones set against and into the edge along the W. Much of the N side of the mound is overgrown. There is a slight indent (Wth 3m at S; D 0.3m) in the centre of the S side, which may have been a trough/cooking area. There are three smaller fulachta fia nearby: one (CL010-101002-) lies 4m to the W; another (CL010-101003-) lies c. 13.5m to the WNW; and another (CL010-101004-) lies c. 30m to the W.
