Historique
L'usine, fondée en 1924 par Monsieur Gillet, fut conçue par les architectes Desseux et Alexandre et constituait un véritable site de production doté de logements, d'équipements sociaux, éducatifs, sportifs et religieux. Le bâtiment principal comprend un corps de deux étages disposé en U, à l'intérieur duquel se situaient les ateliers couverts de sheds. L'ensemble reposait sur un système constructif type poteau-poutre, présentant une architecture aux lignes épurées. Le bâtiment le plus remarquable se situe à l'extrémité est du bâtiment de façade sur rue. Les locaux administratifs offrent un traitement plus affiné (ampleur des vitrages, finesse des menuiseries) dans un style Art-Déco. L'usine cessa toute activité vers 1980 et, à ce jour, seules les ailes sud et est subsistent.

History
The factory, founded in 1924 by Monsieur Gillet, was designed by architects Desseux and Alexandre and constituted a veritable production site equipped with housing, social, educational, sporting and religious facilities. The main building comprises a body of two storeys arranged in a U shape, inside which were the workshops covered with sheds. The entire structure was based on a typical post-beam constructive system, presenting an architecture with clean lines. The most remarkable building is located at the eastern extremity of the building's street-facing façade. The administrative spaces offer more refined treatment (expansiveness of glazing, fineness of joinery) in an Art Deco style. The factory ceased all activity around 1980 and, to date, only the south and east wings remain.
