Le casino Chardon de La Bourboule du nom de son propriétaire , fut construit en deux étapes. En 1892, l'architecte Emile Camut édifia, pour remplacer un bâtiment en bois, la partie Est, qui est la partie centrale visible actuellement, flanquée sur sa droite d'un seul corps de bâtiment. L'aspect général de ce bâtiment d'origine se lit encore sur les élévations de la rue Château. Racheté par la ville en 1910, le casino est loué à une société qui s'engage à faire des agrandissements. Des restaurations sont effectuées en 1913, mais l'extension du bâtiment, côté ouest, ne se fait qu'à partir de 1928. L'architecte parisien Georges Vimort, déjà auteur de transformations sur le bâtiment en 1925, signe le projet, qui conserve la composition du premier bâtiment et complète la symétrie, mais crée des espaces intérieurs dans le style Art Déco. History
The casino Chardon de La Bourboule, named after its owner, was built in two stages. In 1892, the architect Emile Camut erected, to replace a wooden building, the East part, which is the central part visible at present, flanked on its right by a single body of building. The general appearance of this original building can still be read on the street elevations of rue Château. Repurchased by the town in 1910, the casino is let to a company which undertakes to make extensions. Restorations are carried out in 1913, but the extension of the building, on the west side, only takes place from 1928. The Parisian architect Georges Vimort, already author of transformations on the building in 1925, signs the project, which preserves the composition of the first building and completes the symmetry, but creates interior spaces in Art Deco style. Besides the honour staircase of the grand hall, reconstructed probably in the 1960s, this west part of the casino was renovated and remodelled between 1987 and 1995, to allow the reception of conferences.
