En 1838, l'aubergiste Beaudoin acquiert le café-auberge et restructure totalement le logis en créant une nouvelle façade dont les travaux sont achevés en 1842. L'année suivante sont ajoutés un attique et une lucarne centrale. En 1854, Beaudoin achète la maison voisine et la détruit afin d'agrandir l'hôtel en lui adjoignant deux travées à gauche. Le Grand Cerf est alors le plus vaste hôtel d'Alençon. L'architecture de style troubadour rappelle également la Renaissance (sculptures, personnages traités en rinceaux, entablements, colonnes centrales engagées...).

History
In 1838, innkeeper Beaudoin acquires the café-inn and entirely restructures the main dwelling by creating a new façade, the work of which is completed in 1842.
