History
Completed on the eve of the Second World War, which saw the almost complete destruction of the port installations of Dunkerque, the signalling light of the western jetty is the last achievement of architect Umbdenstock (1937-1938). The crowning register is particularly carefully executed, offering the lantern an unusual decoration for a building with the function of port signalling. The light was rebuilt identically in 1954 by the Compagnie dunkerquoise d'Entreprise; it has been automated since 1978.
