The construction of the lighthouse was initiated in the first quarter of the 19th century. The masonry of the tower was completed in 1841 and the base building in 1842. In 1883, work was undertaken to install a new electric lighting system as well as an annex building and dwellings for the keepers. Destroyed during the Second World War, the rear was only partially rebuilt with a small rectangular building. The lighthouse is composed of a square base building, surmounted by a cylindrical tower. The base building has three bays and an entrance door in the style of Florentine quattrocento. The whole is covered with white render, the upper part being faced with black paint. The tower is solid with, at the centre, a cylinder receiving the apparatus of the winch. Around it, a spiral staircase leads to a landing chamber. A metal staircase gives access to the watch chamber, then a second one to the lantern chamber, rebuilt after the war of 1939-45. At the centre, a cast iron column supports the floor of the lantern and the optic.
