La maison est située dans l'ancien quartier aristocratique du castrum de Belaye où elle participe d'un ensemble de maisons jointives dont le front extérieur suit l'escarpement nord dominant le méandre du Lot. D'après le style de ses fenêtres et de ses cheminées, elle pourrait dater de la première moitié du XIVe siècle pour ses parties les plus anciennes. Quelques remaniements ont été apportés à sa façade principale au XIXe siècle mais pour l'essentiel l'édifice a conservé son état d'origine. De plan rectangulaire, il comporte deux niveaux de 40 à 50m2. La salle du rez-de-chaussée servait probablement de cuisine ; un grand arc diaphragme transversal, supposé avoir porté le plancher primitif, recoupait l'espace en deux parties égales, induisant un possible cloisonnement. À l'étage, plus vaste, se trouvaient probablement la salle ou aula et une chambre. L'aula a conservé deux baies géminées à coussièges encadrant une cheminée encastrée et deux armoires murales cintrées ; les deux fenêtres s'ornent de chapiteaux cantonnés de figures humaines. La chambre disposait d'une seule baie géminée, accostée d'une fenêtre haute cintrée, d'une armoire murale et de latrines.

Description
The house is situated in the former aristocratic quarter of the castrum of Belaye where it is part of a set of adjoining houses whose outer front follows the north escarpment dominating the meander of the Lot. According to the style of its windows and chimneys, it could date from the first half of the 14th century for its oldest parts. Some alterations were made to its main façade in the 19th century but overall the building has retained its original condition. Of rectangular plan, it comprises two levels of 40 to 50m2. The ground floor room probably served as a kitchen; a large transverse diaphragm arch, supposed to have borne the primitive floor, cut the space into two equal parts, suggesting a possible partitioning. On the upper floor, more spacious, were probably the hall or aula and a chamber. The aula has retained two paired openings with cushioned seats framing an embedded fireplace and two arched wall cupboards; the two windows are adorned with capitals flanked by human figures. The chamber had a single paired opening, accompanied by a single high arched window, a wall cupboard and latrines.
