A la fin du 13e siècle, l'ancien castrum avait cédé la place à une ville. Au 15e siècle, à cause des risques d'attaques des routiers, reconstruction d'un mur d'enceinte. Si la ville était bien gardée au nord par le château et le mur d'enceinte, elle était vulnérable côté plaine. Un mur sud fut élevé et défendu par quelques tours et percé d'une porte. La porte fortifiée prit le nom du quartier, le Brugelet. La porte est constituée d'un mur en moellons flanqué sur la partie Est d'une base de tours en encorbellement qui servait à la défendre et à assurer le guet. Le mur est percé d'une ouverture en arc brisé côté sud, tandis que côté nord le passage est plus large et couvert d'un arc surbaissé mais appareillé plus grossièrement.

History
At the end of the 13th century, the old castrum had given way to a town. In the 15th century, because of the risks of attacks by brigands, a town wall was rebuilt. If the town was well guarded to the north by the château and the town wall, it was vulnerable on the plain side. A southern wall was raised and defended by a few towers and pierced with a gate. The fortified gate took the name of the quarter, the Brugelet. The gate consists of a rubble stone wall flanked on the east side by a base of overhanging towers which served to defend it and to ensure the watch. The wall is pierced with a pointed-arch opening on the south side, whilst on the north side the passage is wider and covered with a lowered arch but more roughly bonded.
