Elle fut utilisée comme lieu dincarcération jusquen 1870, pour abriter, ensuite, des magasins et entrepôts. Les dispositions générales des bâtiments restent, dans leur ensemble, assez conformes à celles établies à lépoque médiévale et témoignent daménagements apportés ultérieurement, en particulier au 18e siècle.

History
The prison, mentioned for the first time in 1455, was associated with an auditory of justice and a criminal chamber. It occupied the site of an ancient priory and comprised cells, dungeons and other 'strong rooms' arranged on three levels around a central court. It was used as a place of incarceration until 1870, to house subsequently stores and warehouses. The general arrangements of the buildings remain, on the whole, fairly in conformity with those established in the medieval period and bear witness to modifications brought about subsequently, in particular in the 18th century.
