Built in 1969 according to the plans of architect Louis de Casabianca, the church forms part of the urbanisation programme known as "grands ensembles" of the southern quarters of Bastia. The architect resorts to the repertoire of then fashionable forms: hyperbolic paraboloids, symbols of technical progress and modernity. On the exterior, the building is bounded by a rectangular volume from which springs a large form rising in a dome above the choir, and terminating in an oculus. The main entrance to the east is preceded by a stepped parvis and a wide open porch, sheltered by a parabolic veil. The strong opposition between a front and a rear is found in the choice of two contrasting materials: smooth white concrete and a grey and rough masonry of schists. The architectural design is highly symbolic, the white concrete being linked to the sky, the stone giving a terrestrial base to the whole. The arrangement of the surroundings formed part of the initial project, but the parvis was realised later and the bell tower was never built.

From a formal perspective, the architect draws on the repertoire of forms then in full vogue, those of hyperbolic paraboloids, symbols of technical progress and modernity. These silhouettes and surfaces have the advantage of contrasting clearly with the surrounding towers and slabs and of giving strong identity to the place of worship. As regards its external aspect, the church is bounded by a rectangular volume in stone from which springs a great supple form rising in a dome above the choir and ending at its highest point in an oculus. To the east, the main entrance to the church is preceded by a parvis-staircase and a wide open porch sheltered by a parabolic sail. To the west, the rear of the church is blind and the gaze glides over the curve of the vault. The strong opposition between a front and a rear, between a pedestrian parvis and a vehicular way, is found again in the choice of two contrasting materials: smooth white concrete stands out against the grey and rough masonry of slate that catches the eye. The architectural parti is strongly symbolic: the whiteness of concrete is linked to the sky; the stone gives a terrestrial foundation to the whole. The layout of the surroundings was also part of the initial project. However the parvis was realised subsequently; and the bell tower which was to be found on the lateral square, was never built.
