Historique

History
The manor of Ramblouc'h was built by the Le Moine family in the 15th century (1492-1495, presumed date of construction of the main dwelling transformed in the 19th century); the chapel, dedicated to Notre-Dame-de-Pitié and built around 1435, was destroyed. The mill, isolated on the Guillec, was built around 1550 in dressed granite stone; it bears at different locations an anthology of dates, all later, associated with the names of millers: Jacques Troniou, 1725, M. Pouliquen, 1726, Jean Olivier, 1753, Hervé Deroff, 1883. In massive plan, very simple, and built of dressed granite stone, this Léonard water mill, typically Finistère in its architecture, was formerly covered with thatch. A vertical upper wheel, inserted between the straight sluice gate and a buttress, protection against scouring, drove the millstones. The mill was inhabited and had a bakehouse. The western part was reserved for dwelling (on the ground floor) and grain storage (on the first floor); on the east side, where the mechanism is installed, the gable is reinforced by thick buttresses. The mill was part of a complex comprising manor (transformed in the 19th century), chapel (demolished), farmhouse and dovecot (destroyed). It can be compared to the mill of Kerlan in Sibiril, also built in dressed stone, classified as a Historic Monument since 1968 (Mérimée record PA00090449).
