Historique
Léglise Notre-Dame de Rochefort fut construite par larchitecte Louis-Auguste Boileau, de 1858 à 1860. Cet architecte est considéré comme un pionnier dans la relecture de larchitecture gothique en employant un nouveau système constructif : les éléments en fonte autoporteurs. Lextérieur, dominé par le clocher, offre les caractéristiques dun édifice néogothique assez commun si lon excepte la configuration atypique des couvertures transversales. A lintérieur, Boileau a conservé le vocabulaire gothique et exclu lutilisation de la fonte pour les piliers tout en leur conservant une ligne très gracile. Le programme décoratif et le mobilier sont réalisés de façon quasi contemporaine de la construction de léglise : les vitraux de Dagrant datent des années 1890, lorgue Wenner de 1875 et le décor peint des années 1860.

History
The church of Notre-Dame de Rochefort was built by the architect Louis-Auguste Boileau, from 1858 to 1860. This architect is considered a pioneer in reinterpreting gothic architecture by employing a new constructional system: self-supporting cast-iron elements. The exterior, dominated by the bell tower, offers the characteristics of a fairly common neo-gothic building if one excepts the atypical configuration of the transverse coverings. Inside, Boileau retained the gothic vocabulary and excluded the use of cast iron for the pillars while maintaining them with a very graceful line. The decorative programme and furnishings were executed almost contemporaneously with the construction of the church: the stained glass by Dagrant dates from the 1890s, the Wenner organ from 1875 and the painted decoration from the 1860s.
