Le plan de Toufaire, ingénieur du Roi, fut approuvé le 25 janvier 1783 et les travaux commencèrent aussitôt. En mars 1785, la moitié de l'hôpital environ était achevée. L'hôpital est remis à l'intendant Charlot de Grandville le 9 juin 1788. Dans une cour de 13.000 m² s'élèvent : un bâtiment principal en fond de cour ; deux ailes latérales vers l'entrée et deux autres plus courtes à l'opposé ; deux pavillons parallèles au bâtiment principal, près de l'entrée, de part et d'autre des ailes latérales.

History
The plan by Toufaire, engineer of the King, was approved on 25 January 1783 and work began immediately. In March 1785, approximately half of the hospital was completed. The hospital is handed over to the intendant Charlot de Grandville on 9 June 1788. In a courtyard of 13,000 m² stand: a main building at the back of the courtyard; two lateral wings towards the entrance and two others shorter at the opposite end; two pavilions parallel to the main building, near the entrance, on either side of the lateral wings.
