Oeuvre réalisée par les architectes Louis Simon, André Morisseau, et l'ingénieur René Sarger. L'étude technique de Sarger ne modifie que la courbe de l'intrados du dessin en forme de coquillage fourni par les architectes. La solution retenue pour couvrir une surface circulaire de 50 m de diamètre sans point d'appui, est celle d'une voûte sphérique ondulée en paraboloïdes sinusoïdaux. Les reports de charge sont concentrés dans les parties basses qui touchent le sol en treize points. L'ensemble de chaque voûte est considéré comme un arc à trois articulations. Ainsi, chaque voûte est comme une poutre à section sinusoïdale dans un sens et parabolique dans l'autre. Cette conception autorise un voile mince, dont l'épaisseur moyenne n'excède pas 10 cm.

History
Work carried out by architects Louis Simon, André Morisseau, and engineer René Sarger. Sarger's technical study modified only the curve of the intrados of the shell-shaped drawing provided by the architects. The solution adopted to cover a circular surface of 50 m diameter without point of support is that of an undulated spherical vault in sinusoidal paraboloids. The load transfers are concentrated in the lower parts which touch the ground at thirteen points. The whole of each vault is considered as an arch with three articulations. Thus, each vault is like a beam with sinusoidal section in one direction and parabolic in the other. This design allows for a thin shell, whose average thickness does not exceed 10 cm.
