Historique
Construit par la municipalité pour le quartier Saint-Eloi en 1931, le groupe scolaire Paul Doumer sera terminé 18 mois plus tard, puis agrandi en 1953. La forme irrégulière du terrain d'à peine un hectare conditionne la disposition en épis des bâtiments et la création d'une rue intérieure desservant successivement école maternelle, école de filles et de garçons. L'édifice comporte une ossature en béton armé remplie d'une double cloison de briques ; il est recouvert à l'origine d'un jetis tyrolien ocre. L'apparence de l'édifice est celle d'une maçonnerie traditionnelle, avec des formes épaisses, massives et opaques, soulignées par des bandeaux et des corniches débordantes. La façade sur rue montre même un certain hiératisme, particulièrement dans la composition pyramidale du porche d'entrée.

History
Built by the municipality for the Saint-Eloi district in 1931, the Paul Doumer school group will be completed 18 months later, then enlarged in 1953. The irregular shape of the land, barely one hectare, conditions the arrangement of the buildings in a herringbone pattern and the creation of an interior street serving in turn nursery school, girls' and boys' school. The building has a reinforced concrete frame filled with a double brick partition; it is originally covered with an ocre tyrolese render. The appearance of the building is that of traditional masonry, with thick, massive and opaque forms, underlined by bands and overhanging cornices. The street façade even shows a certain hieraticism, particularly in the pyramidal composition of the entrance porch.
