A la demande la compagnie du Paris-Orléans, Emmanuel Brune, architecte parisien, construisit un véritable palais scolaire entre 1876 et 1880. Réservée aux garçons, cette école fut confiée aux frères des Ecoles chrétiennes. Puis, elle abrita l'école laïque et tomba dans le domaine communal en 1947. Construit sur une terrasse aménagée dominant le site du Gua, ce bâtiment ostentatoire long de 59 mètres et large de 12 mètres tranche sur l'ensemble des maisons modestes qui constituent la trame de ce faubourg.

History
At the request of the Paris-Orléans company, Emmanuel Brune, a Parisian architect, constructed a genuine school palace between 1876 and 1880. Reserved for boys, this school was entrusted to the Christian Brothers. Later, it housed the secular school and passed into municipal ownership in 1947.
