Rénovation du château vers 1818 dans le style Empire. Colonne commémorative érigée en souvenir d'une visite de la duchesse d'Angoulême en 1823. Le château actuel est voisin d'une imposante motte féodale. Le tumulus entouré de ses fossés est encore lisible sur le terrain. Le transfert vers l'emplacement actuel date probablement des alentours de l'an mil. La propriété comprend le château, une chapelle qui fut utilisée comme église paroissiale, une porterie d'entrée, le parc. Le château présente une allure massive due aux ajouts du 19e siècle. Il est prolongé par d'importantes dépendances occupant l'emplacement de bâtiments antérieurs. Certaines parties ont été agrandies en utilisant les matériaux de démolition. Cette campagne d'agrandissement semble avoir gommé le débordement de deux avant-corps latéraux, sans doute pour permettre de loger la massive cage d'escalier pompéïenne, destinée à desservir les trois étages. L'escalier est orné d'un décor représentant danseuses et personnages en costume romain, putti, médaillons et frises sur un fond rouge. L'accès principal se fait par une porte donnant accès à un salon-vestibule décoré de toiles marouflées portant des représentations d'oiseaux sur fond clair, et d'un plafond peint. La salle à manger est recouverte de boiseries. A l'est, le salon s'orne d'un plafond et de dessus de porte au décor assorti, avec frises en grisailles et putti.

History
Renovation of the castle around 1818 in the Empire style. Commemorative column erected in memory of a visit by the Duchess of Angoulême in 1823. The present castle is adjacent to an imposing feudal motte. The tumulus surrounded by its ditches is still legible on the ground. The transfer to the present location probably dates to around the year 1000. The property comprises the castle, a chapel which was used as a parish church, a gatehouse, the park. The castle has a massive appearance due to additions from the 19th century. It is extended by substantial outbuildings occupying the site of earlier buildings. Some parts were enlarged using demolition materials. This enlargement campaign appears to have eliminated the projection of two lateral avant-corps, no doubt to allow for the massive Pompeian staircase to be housed, intended to serve the three storeys. The staircase is decorated with a decor representing dancers and figures in Roman costume, putti, medallions and friezes on a red background. Access is via a door leading to a salon-vestibule decorated with canvases mounted on panel bearing representations of birds on a light background, and a painted ceiling. The dining room is covered with wood panelling. To the east, the salon is adorned with a ceiling and overdoors with matching decoration, with grisaille friezes and putti.
