La construction de la jetée de l'Epi est liée au développement du port de la Houle depuis la construction de la première digue en 1773. Les pêcheurs demandant la création d'une cale de débarquement dans la partie ouest de la Houle, la jetée fut réalisée en 1838 par les Ponts et Chaussées. Ce quai d'embarquement réalisé en pierres sèches avait 50 m de long sur 4 de large ; il était percé de 19 arches séparées par des gradins ayant pour fonction de faciliter l'accostage des embarcations. Ces arches à l'origine ouvertes ont été partiellement cimentées et l'ouvrage a été prolongé en 1886 par une structure coudée, partie pierre et partie béton.

History
The construction of the jetty of the Epi is linked to the development of the port of la Houle since the construction of the first dyke in 1773. The fishermen requesting the creation of a landing slipway in the western part of la Houle, the jetty was built in 1838 by the Ponts et Chaussées. This landing quay built of dry stone was 50 m long by 4 m wide; it was pierced with 19 arches separated by steps which had the function of facilitating the berthing of vessels. These arches, originally open, were partially cemented and the structure was extended in 1886 by a bent structure, part stone and part concrete.
