History
Built in 1965-66 in a superb site overlooking the Morlaix river, the house Kerautem is one of the most accomplished achievements of Le Flanchec (1915-1986). Designed for a family of aristocrats who desired a futuristic manor, it is conceived according to the open-plan system, which emphasizes the horizontal planes defining the space. But the manifest homage to Le Corbusier did not hamper the creative freedom of the architect. Widely open to the exterior with its walls reduced to a minimum, the dwelling blossoms freely between its base and its terrace roof bristling with chimneys and light shafts, which evoke the mineral chaos on which it rests.
