Autrefois siège d'une seigneurie de quelque importance, Coat-Ilès ne conserve de nos jours que de minces vestiges de l'ensemble manorial reconstruit au 17e siècle, vraisemblablement sur un manoir plus ancien. De cette époque subsistent le pigeonnier, le portail et le pavillon d'entrée qui rappellent l'ancienne seigneurie. Coat-Ilès se présente aujourd'hui comme un ancien pavillon de chasse, très restauré, reconstruit à la fin du 18e siècle sur l'emplacement de cet ancien manoir. Des adjonctions réalisées aux 19e et 20e siècles ont complètement modifié l'aspect de la demeure, et défiguré sa façade ouest. L'ensemble vaut surtout par le jardin, conçu pour faire un tout avec la maison : la disposition en trois terrasses, avec des murs de soutènement en redent de facture très soignée rappellent les lignes de la demeure, et les buis taillés reprennent le jeu de l'escalier.

History
Formerly the seat of a seigniory of some importance, Coat-Ilès preserves nowadays only meagre vestiges of the manorial ensemble rebuilt in the 17th century, presumably over an older manor. From this period survive the dovecote, the gateway and the entrance pavilion which recall the former seigniory. Coat-Ilès presents itself today as an old hunting lodge, much restored, rebuilt at the end of the 18th century on the site of this former manor. Additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries have completely changed the appearance of the residence, and disfigured its western façade. The ensemble is worth noting above all for the garden, conceived to form a whole with the house: the arrangement in three terraces, with supporting walls in a stepped pattern of very careful workmanship recall the lines of the residence, and the clipped box hedges resume the play of the staircase.
