Historique
La Mettrie-aux-Houets est une malouinière du premier quart du 18e siècle (la chapelle est datée 1725) , qui possède encore un rare ensemble d'éléments, intérieurs et extérieurs, caractéristique de la demeure noble. History
La Mettrie-aux-Houets is a malouinière from the first quarter of the 18th century (the chapel is dated 1725), which still possesses a rare ensemble of elements, interior and exterior, characteristic of the noble dwelling. The entrance is by a monumental gate surrounded by two circular moats, linking the gate on one side to the chapel, on the other to the dovecote; commons with arcades frame the courtyard of honour. In front of the entrance, a false avenue emphasizes the axis of the composition. The rear façade overlooks a raised terrace then gardens in the French style with basin, grass parterre, pool of water framed by corner follies. The interior has retained its staircase with wooden balusters, wainscoting of very strict design, flooring of broad planks and some alcoves.
