La porte fortifiée qui donnait accès au château, se situe au sommet du village et fait face au sud. Elle est surmontée de meurtrières et de mâchicoulis dont l'accès se fait par de petits escaliers encastrés à droite et à gauche, dans l'épaisseur des murs. Les remparts, très épais et très hauts, entouraient autrefois la partie la plus élevée du village, notamment l'église paroissiale et le cloître lui faisant suite. Ces remparts ont été en partie détruits (la porte fortifiée en 1961).

History
The fortified gate which gave access to the château is situated at the summit of the village and faces south. It is surmounted by loopholes and machicolations whose access is made by small staircases embedded to the right and left, within the thickness of the walls. The ramparts, very thick and very high, formerly surrounded the highest part of the village, notably the parish church and the cloister adjoining it. These ramparts have been partly destroyed (the fortified gate in 1961).
