Historique
Le grand Temple fut à l'origine une église dominicaine dont la construction fut entreprise de 1714 à 1736. En 1792, les ordres ayant été abolis et les Dominicains dispersés, l'église devint propriété nationale. Elle fut louée puis achetée par les Protestants. L'édifice présente un plan rectangulaire dont la partie la plus remarquable est la façade. Le style classique est pur : pilastres ioniques et corinthiens, entablements, frontons courbes et triangulaires. L'intérieur se compose d'une nef et de deux collatéraux. Les deux extrémités de la nef n'ont pas de communication latérale. Le plan, rectangulaire au niveau du sol, passe à l'hémicycle au niveau des deux tribunes extrêmes. La nef communique avec les chapelles latérales et les tribunes, par de grandes arcades en plein cintre.

History
The grand Temple was originally a Dominican church whose construction was undertaken from 1714 to 1736. In 1792, the orders having been abolished and the Dominicans dispersed, the church became national property. It was leased and then purchased by the Protestants. The building presents a rectangular plan of which the most remarkable part is the façade. The style is pure classical: Ionic and Corinthian pilasters, entablatures, curved and triangular pediments. The interior is composed of a nave and two aisles. The two extremities of the nave have no lateral communication. The plan, rectangular at ground level, passes to the hemicycle at the level of the two end galleries. The nave communicates with the lateral chapels and galleries, by large round-arch arcades.
