Historique

History
In the 17th century, the complex comprised the castle, a dovecote, a woad mill, two windmills and 120 setérées of land. The building is of very elongated rectangular plan. One of the corners rests against the parish church; the other is marked by a round tower; the two others were defended by corner turrets. At the centre of the south façade, a bretèche protected the entrance door while symmetrically, on the north façade, a round tower broke the alignment of the wall. The construction is in bricks. Sandstone is reserved for corner chains, frames, corbels, stair treads and mullions. The round tower of the north façade contains a spiral staircase with solid newel, without helical groove. On the first floor, the door giving access to the apartments is in ogee arch. This door and the base moulding of the newel allow dating of the staircase to the 15th century. The cellar preserves an entrance to an underground passage under brick vault.
