Historique
Dalmace, archevêque de Narbonne, consacra l'église en 1088. L'édifice, ou un édifice antérieur, existait depuis longtemps, mentionné dès 943. C'était un bâtiment dont l'abside demi-circulaire fut surélevée en forme de tour, probablement pour compléter les défenses du château adjacent. Il subsiste encore de ce château une partie des murs qui ont servi, plus tard, à constituer l'église actuelle. La porte murée de l'ouest, ornée d'un blason, était l'une des portes du château. L'église ancienne forme une chapelle de l'édifice actuel. De cette première église, orientée à l'est, subsistent l'abside demi-circulaire voûtée en cul de four, un choeur et une nef voûtés en berceau plein cintre. Les deux bâtiments ont été accolés parallèlement mais la nouvelle église a son sanctuaire à l'ouest et son entrée à l'est. History
Dalmace, archbishop of Narbonne, consecrated the church in 1088. The building, or an earlier building, had existed for a long time, mentioned as early as 943. It was a building whose semi-circular chevet was heightened in the form of a tower, probably to complete the defences of the adjacent château. There still remains of this château part of the walls which were later used to constitute the present church. The bricked-up west door, ornamented with a coat of arms, was one of the doors of the château. The old church forms a chapel of the present building. Of this first church, oriented to the east, there remain the semi-circular chevet vaulted in a cul de four, a choir and a nave vaulted in barrel vault with round arch. The two buildings were placed alongside each other parallel but the new church has its sanctuary to the west and its entrance to the east. The tower which crowns the old chevet was heightened, probably at the time of the construction of the new church, with a porch tower, retouched and heightened in 1853.
