Historique
La croix a été dressée à l'emplacement des anciens fossés de la ville et date sans doute du début du 17e siècle. L'armature de la croix est constituée par quatre fers carrés cintrés en quart de cercle et tangents aux extrémités des bras. History
The cross was erected at the location of the former moats of the town and probably dates from the early 17th century. The framework of the cross is constituted by four square iron rods curved in a quarter circle and tangent at the ends of the arms. The design of these arcs is underlined, on the outside and inside, by crenellated motifs in flat iron. In the interior opening of the cross, these small rods draw a four-lobed leaf with lanceolate lobes. On the outside, they form four crenellations. The ends of the arms are decorated with foliage. Each of these ornaments comprises two groups of four petals in ribbon form. The first group, at the end of the arm, has its petals turned towards the point. The interior group, which simulates the sepals, has the points folded back towards the centre of the cross. Except at the base, the decoration was completed by terminal finials. No rivets, screws, or pins were employed in this work. The elements that did not come from forging were assembled with heat.
