Of monastic origin, the church was constructed in the 11th century by monks of the abbey of Charroux, in Poitou. The present building has retained an important part of the original structure. The north lateral wall and part of the north arm of the transept survive from this primitive building. The bell tower dates from the 13th century and was restored in 1525. Reconstruction of the spire in 1765. In 1813, installation of the six round wooden columns which separate the nave from the aisles and which support a ceiling in the form of a depressed vault. The plan is in Latin cross. The choir terminates in a flat chevet. The Limoges portal of the 13th century is formed of three pointed arch voussures with a framing archivolt. The interior has been largely remodelled. The wall bearing the fresco dates back to the 11th century. The Christ in Majesty is in the Romanesque spirit by its style. Unfurled phylacteries bear inscriptions which, by their execution, belong to the Gothic repertoire. This fresco could date back to the 15th century.
