Approximately 150 towers were built in Corsica by the Republic of Genoa, between 1512 and 1608. The communities participated in their construction by paying taxes or providing labour. The tower is recorded in 1556, during the war of Sampiero Corso. It is a square tower, built of schist with visible putlog holes. It rests on the bedrock which outcrops. A high door, which was accessible by a movable ladder, opens onto the garrison room. In the upper part, the machicolations and loopholes are still in place. As a crowning feature, there is a bell tower for calling to arms.
