Historique
L'ancien couvent de la Visitation a été fondé par Mme de Chantal avant de devenir lycée et de subir des transformations. La chapelle de l'ancien couvent, devenue celle du lycée, est restée intacte et constitue avec le choeur des religieuses attenant, un exemple unique en Bourbonnais de l'art architectural et décoratif du 17e siècle. La façade de la chapelle du lycée, ainsi que l'intérieur, sont d'ordonnance classique ; la nef comprend deux travées barlongues avec chapelles peu profondes. Elle est prolongée par un choeur de plan carré, couvert par une coupole. Sur un des côtés du choeur est adossé le mausolée du duc Henri de Montmorency. La chapelle des Religieuses, ouvrant la nef de la chapelle du lycée, présente un plafond voûté en bois, orné de peintures attribuées à Le Sueur et représentant la vie de la Vierge.

History
The old convent of the Visitation was founded by Mme de Chantal before becoming a secondary school and undergoing transformations. The chapel of the old convent, which became that of the secondary school, remained intact and constitutes together with the adjacent choir of the nuns, a unique example in Bourbonnais of the architectural and decorative art of the 17th century. The facade of the chapel of the secondary school, as well as the interior, are of classical arrangement; the nave comprises two oblong bays with shallow chapels. It is extended by a choir of square plan, covered by a dome. On one side of the choir is set the mausoleum of the duke Henri de Montmorency. The Chapel of the Nuns, opening to the nave of the secondary school chapel, presents a ceiling vaulted in wood, decorated with paintings attributed to Le Sueur and representing the life of the Virgin.
