Historique
L'église remonte au 12e siècle, et dépendait d'un prieuré donné en 1167 par l'évêque du Puy à l'abbaye de la Chaise-Dieu. Elle comporte un plan classique à cette époque dans la région, avec une nef à abside de même largeur, et sur la travée précédant cette dernière, une coupole à octogonale sur trompillons sphériques. La nef est voûtée en berceau recoupé par des doubleaux reposant sur des pilastres carrés avec chapiteaux à feuilles d'eau. L'abside est voûtée en demi coupole à cinq pans avec arcatures et colonnettes. Les baies qui l'éclairent comportent des colonnettes cantonnées qui ne subsistent que sur la face nord. Deux chapelles latérales ont été ajoutées à une époque postérieure.

History
The church dates to the 12th century, and was part of a priory given in 1167 by the Bishop of Le Puy to the abbey of la Chaise-Dieu. It comprises a plan classical to that period in the region, with a nave with an apse of the same width, and over the bay preceding it, a dome with octagonal form on spherical squinches. The nave is vaulted with a barrel vault cut across by ribs resting on square pilasters with leaf capitals. The apse is vaulted with a five-part demi-dome with arcatures and small columns. The openings which light it have cantoned small columns which survive only on the north face. Two side chapels were added at a later period.
