Historique

History
Strong house built in the 15th century, presenting a cubic mass of very rustic construction. The defensive elements are still in place: two corner machicolations and a small bretèche defending the facade facing the Loire, another machicolation at the south-west corner, hexagonal tower containing a spiral staircase at the south-east corner. The building was modified in its openings. The ground-floor rooms with their coffered ceilings can be dated to the 16th century, as can the hexagonal tower of the spiral staircase. In the 18th century, new arrangements, dated 1742 on a lintel, with the partitioning of the first floor and a chimney with trumeau. This house illustrates the role of protection and surveillance against brigandage that this type of construction once had to play.
