Un texte du début du 11e siècle fait allusion à deux sanctuaires, l'un dédié à Saint-Gervais, l'autre (baptistère) à Saint-Jean. Le premier fut acquis à la fin du 11e siècle par les moines de Sauxillanges qui y installèrent un prieuré. Il s'agit d'un petit sanctuaire d'époque romane (corniche à modillons ; voûtement en plein cintre de la nef) , entièrement remanié au 15e ou 16e siècle (profils des ogives et des arcades). La nef romane est précédée d'un porche - "ganivelle" - disposition très particulière à cette région.

History
A text from the early 11th century alludes to two sanctuaries, one dedicated to Saint-Gervais, the other (baptistery) to Saint-Jean. The first was acquired at the end of the 11th century by the monks of Sauxillanges who installed a priory there. It is a small sanctuary of the Romanesque period (cornice with modillions; barrel-vaulted nave), entirely remodelled in the 15th or 16th century (profiles of ribs and arcades). The Romanesque nave is preceded by a porch - 'ganivelle' - a very particular arrangement to this region.
