Historique

History
Built in 1710 by Joaquim d'Estaing, bishop of Saint-Flour, the castle consists of a main block of building comprising a ground floor, a noble storey and a Mansart roof; and two wings of service buildings set back at right angles on the courtyard of honour. The courtyard thus determined is closed by dry moats bordered by a stone balustrade and opens by an iron-forged gate decorated with scrolls. Facing the castle stands the basin of Adam and Eve, circular. The central group is treated in the baroque manner, with the two draped figures arranged symmetrically, and separated by various stylized plants. In the park stands the fountain of the Devil, a kind of wall decorated with a palmette and framed by two fluted pilasters, decorated with a grimacing figure. The interior comprises several wainscoted rooms. The staircase cage presents an ornate ceiling, with as central motif, an oval medallion surrounded by garlands. Four atlantes seem to support the ceiling.
