Cette porte est l'un des derniers éléments encore visibles de l'enceinte qui fortifia le village. Il s'agit d'une porte en arc brisé flanquée d'une tour actuellement découronnée. L'entrée se fait par un pont jeté sur un fossé, sans doute vestige des douves que devait franchir un pont-levis. La défense était complétée par une herse dont on aperçoit la rainure dans l'intrados de l'arc et dans les piedroits. A l'intérieur, la porte est surmontée d'un arc bombé. A son côté Est se trouve une petite porte à encadrement mouluré et à linteau droit donnant accès à l'escalier à angle droit qui monte à la tour. De l'intérieur de l'enceinte fortifiée, cette tour de flanquement a la forme carrée. Mais sur sa face extérieure, elle est demi-circulaire, percée sur le côté d'une longue ouverture étroite et de deux trous ronds (canonnières). L'amorce d'un mur de grande épaisseur subsiste entre la tour et le côté de la porte. Un petit beffroi circulaire surmonté d'une cloche a été accolé plus récemment au côté Est de la tour.

History
This gate is one of the last remaining elements of the enclosure which fortified the village. It is a pointed arch gate flanked by a tower currently decapitated. Access is by a bridge thrown over a moat, doubtless a vestige of the moats that must have been crossed by a drawbridge. The defence was completed by a portcullis of which the groove is visible in the underside of the arch and in the jambs. Inside, the gate is surmounted by a curved arch. On its East side is a small door with moulded frame and straight lintel giving access to a right-angled staircase leading to the tower. From inside the fortified enclosure, this flanking tower is square in form. But on its external face, it is semi-circular, pierced on the side by a long narrow opening and by two round holes (gun-ports). The start of a wall of great thickness remains between the tower and the side of the gate. A small circular belfry topped with a bell was added later to the East side of the tower.
