Succeeding an older edifice, the present church was begun in 1265 and completed 150 years later. The building consists of a nave of five bays with aisles and a choir terminated by an apse of five sides. In 1490, an earthquake is said to have destroyed the vaults of the ante-choir and the great nave. At that time, the nave was covered with roof structure. The vaults of the latter, executed towards 1830, are lower than the original ones. These are groin vaults decorated with ribs painted in trompe-l'oeil, separated by flat transverse arches. The aisles are vaulted with rib vaults that are original, with capitals on the south side and penetration springer points on the north. These vaults present sculptured keystones as well as remains of ancient paintings. The bell tower which rises to the left of the porch is of modern construction on an ancient base.
