Cet ouvrage est traité dans le style éclectique caractéristique de la seconde moitié du 19e siècle, peu représenté dans le Puy-de-Dôme.

Campaign of urban development under the Second Empire, in 1857-1858: construction of fountains (due to the architect from Clermont Taché and realised by the sculptor Pierre Béraud), of the town hall... This fountain is constituted by a superposition of basins hierarchized in pyramidal fashion. Except for the basin, the decorative vocabulary is borrowed from Roman antiquity. This work is treated in the eclectic style characteristic of the second half of the 19th century, little represented in Puy-de-Dôme.
