A major work by the architect Le Corbusier, designed in collaboration with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, the Swiss pavilion of the Cité Internationale Universitaire is constructed from 1931 to 1933. Six pillars in reinforced concrete, descending to 19 metres depth, support the pavilion. This building with metal frame presents a range of the architect's choices in the field of materials, standardized elements and the integration of furniture into the construction. This pavilion corresponds to a programme of 42 student rooms, with a residential apartment, a porter's lodge, a refectory and a library. It can be considered as the prototype of residential buildings in the form of a "bar". In 1948, the architect realizes the fresco of the lounge-library; in 1953, he modifies the façade and, in 1957, he designs three benches and redoes the polychromy of the rooms, in brighter tones.
