Les revers de l'armée française en Espagne face aux armées anglo-ibériques, contraignirent le maréchal Soult à se replier sur la frontière franco-espagnole. Celle-ci fut fortifiée de juillet à novembre 1813 par des redoutes en terre ou en pierre, dont certaines avaient déjà joué un rôle en 1793. Ce dispositif fut enfoncé par Wellington en novembre 1813.

History
The reverses of the French army in Spain against Anglo-Iberian forces compelled Marshal Soult to withdraw to the Franco-Spanish frontier. This was fortified from July to November 1813 by redoutes in earth or stone, some of which had already played a role in 1793. This position was broken through by Wellington in November 1813.
