En février 1814, le général Soult rentrant d'Espagne, avait installé son quartier général dans cet hôtel de la fin du 18e siècle. Sûr de son succès, il commanda un repas pour le soir mais à sa place, ce fut Lord Wellington qui y prit le repas et la chambre. Le rez-de-chaussée s'ouvre par un portail décalé par rapport à l'axe de la façade. Une banquette de pierre est installée le long du mur. L'enseigne et les lanternes sont suspendues à des poternes en fer forgé. Les premier et second étages sont séparés par un méplat continu. History
In February 1814, General Soult returning from Spain had established his headquarters in this late 18th-century hotel. Confident of his success, he ordered a meal for the evening but in his place it was Lord Wellington who took the meal and the room. The ground floor opens through a portal offset from the axis of the façade. A stone bench is installed along the wall. The sign and lanterns are suspended from wrought-iron brackets. The first and second floors are separated by a continuous flat band. The upper level ends with a narrower band, followed by a projecting cornice. The courtyard façade has the same vertical divisions as the street façade, but no ornament marks these divisions.
