Historique
Vaste édifice élevé par les Bénédictins à la fin du 11e siècle. Il se compose d'une large nef voûtée en berceau, d'un transept dont la croisée est voûtée en coupole octogonale, et d'une abside demi-circulaire ajourée par sept fenêtres ornées de colonnettes. Sur les deux bras du transept s'ouvrent deux absidioles orientées et voûtées en cul de four. Les murs sont renforcés à l'intérieur et à l'extérieur par des dosserets et des arcatures, et ne se défendent que par leur grande épaisseur. History
Vast building erected by the Benedictines at the end of the 11th century. It comprises a large nave vaulted with a barrel vault, a transept whose crossing is vaulted with an octagonal dome, and a semicircular apse pierced by seven windows decorated with small columns. On the two arms of the transept open two oriented apses vaulted in a half dome. The walls are reinforced inside and outside by pilasters and arcatures, and are defended only by their great thickness. The western portal opens through a thickening of masonry which permits the free development of the voussures. The nave, which had undergone deformations, was partly remade according to the old arrangements. The dome was decorated with paintings and surmounted by a slate dome and a bell turret.
