Historique
Lafox fut primitivement un poste de douaniers qui surveillait un péage important. Le château fut pris et repris pendant les guerres de Cent ans. Lafox atteint son apogée au 15e siècle. History
Lafox was originally a customs post which supervised an important toll. The castle was taken and retaken during the Hundred Years' War. Lafox reached its height in the 15th century. The edifice was enlarged, the main dwelling and the curtain walls date from this period. In the 16th century, the edifice was brought up to date, pierced with Renaissance openings and adorned with a flight of steps. After the troubles of the Fronde, the castle was restored around 1615. The square keep is the oldest part of the castle. It was originally situated on a motte. At an indeterminate period, a terrace was constructed around the base, resting on a barrel vault of bricks.
