Historique
La construction de cette maison est attribuée au vicomte de Turenne, gouverneur de la ville au 16e siècle. Henri IV y aurait séjourné en 1581 et 1582. Louis XIII y descendit au juillet-août 1621 au cours d'une tournée d'inspection de ses troupes. Louis XIV y aurait également fait une étape en juin 1660 lors de son voyage à Saint-Jean-de-Luz, pour son mariage avec l'infante d'Espagne. La façade nord présente un pan de bois. Le pittoresque de l'habitation est marqué par la différence des niveaux et des pentes des toitures, quelques fenêtres à meneaux, et l'accès à la maison par un escalier creusé dans un massif de maçonnerie formant terrasse. History
The construction of this house is attributed to the Viscount of Turenne, governor of the city in the 16th century. Henri IV is said to have stayed there in 1581 and 1582. Louis XIII stayed there in July-August 1621 during an inspection tour of his troops. Louis XIV is also said to have made a stop there in June 1660 during his journey to Saint-Jean-de-Luz, for his marriage with the Infanta of Spain. The north façade presents timber framing. The picturesque character of the dwelling is marked by the difference in levels and roof slopes, a few mullioned windows, and access to the house by a staircase cut into a block of masonry forming a terrace.
