The Finnish Heritage Agency's description

Langinkoski on ainutlaatuinen keisarihallitsijaan liittyvä rakennusmuistomerkki ja Keisarillisen palatsin ohella ainoa keisariperheelle pystytetty rakennus Suomessa.

Venäjän keisarin Aleksanteri III:n toivomuksesta 1800-luvun lopussa rakennettu kalastusmaja sijaitsee Kymijoen suuhaarassa olevalla saarella. Kansallisromanttiseen henkeen rakennetun hirsihuvilan suunnittelusta vastasivat yleisten rakennusten ylihallituksessa arkkitehdit Magnus Schjerfbeck ja Sebastian Gripenberg, kiinteän sisustuksen ja kalusteiden muotoilusta Jac. Ahrenberg. Irtaimisto ja tekstiilit on hankittu osana kokonaissuunnitelmaa. Valamon munkkien rakentama avoseinäinen tsasouna on kunnostettu tsaariperheen käyttöön.

Langinkoski is a unique building monument linked to an imperial ruler and, alongside the Keisarillinen palatsi, the only building erected for the imperial family in Finland.

The fishing lodge built at the end of the 19th century at the request of the Russian Emperor Aleksanteri III is located on an island in the mouth branch of the Kymijoki. The architects Magnus Schjerfbeck and Sebastian Gripenberg of the yleisten rakennusten ylihallitus were responsible for designing the log villa built in the National Romantic spirit; Jac. Ahrenberg was responsible for the design of the fixed interiors and furniture. Movable furnishings and textiles were acquired as part of the overall plan. The open-walled tsasouna built by the monks of Valamo has been renovated for the use of the tsar's family.

In addition to the imperial fishing lodge, the islands also hold, according to a unified plan, a log fishermen's residence and the outbuildings required for storing fish.

Langinkoski is part of the nationally valuable landscape area and nature conservation area of the Kymijoki valley.

Whitefish and salmon fishing on the islands of the Kymijoki mouth branch had been the exclusive right of the Valamo monastic brotherhood since the end of the 18th century. The Finnish state bought the salmon fisheries from the monastery in 1847, and in 1889 a fishing lodge designed for Aleksanteri III was completed on the edge of the rapids. Aleksanteri III and Empress Maria Feodorovna, with their children, regularly spent summers at Langinkoski until 1894. In the first years of independence, Langinkoski was a summer retreat for members of the Valtioneuvosto, and from 1934 it was a museum and sight maintained by the Langinkoski-seura.
