Dinwiddie Courthouse
Sheridan, coming here from the east, pushed on beyond. He was attacked by Pickett, March 31, 1865, and driven back to this place. A fierce action was fought just to the west of the road here. Darkness saved Sheridan from defeat. In the night Pickett fell back to Five Forks, where he was followed by Sheridan and defeated next day, April 1.
