Poplar Forest

A mile and a half south is Poplar Forest, Thomas Jefferson's Bedford estate. He came here in June, une, 1781, 1781, after his term as governor expired, and while here was thrown from a horse and injured. During his recovery he wrote his "Notes on Virginia".
