Laurens County · dedicated 2025 · 1252 Beaverdam Church Rd., Enoree, Enoree

Front: This Baptist congregation organized in the 1870s. A church cemetery at this site dates to that period, and early members likely worshipped nearby. The church’s name is taken from Beaverdam Creek, which runs south of the road. Congregants took ownership of the site in 1894 and built several houses of worship here. Reverse: For a number of years this was also the site of Beaverdam School for African Americans. In 1935 the school was housed in a one-room wooden building and had around 80 students. Part of Laurens Co. School District No. 10 (Lanford), it closed around 1950 as part of the consolidation of the county’s small country schools.
