Chesterfield Presbyterian Church

Front: Chesterfield Presbyterian Church first organized in 1889 with nine members. Rev. S.E. Bishop joined them and served as stated supply pastor. The church was originally part of Pee Dee Presbytery. It disbanded in 1894 after many members moved away. In 1907, Rev. James Russell began preaching in Chesterfield as a station and soon after reorganized the church. At that time the congregation had fifteen members. Reverse: After reconstituting, members built a wooden church at another location north of Main St. They acquired this site for a larger building in 1917. The current Colonial Revival church at the corner of Main and Mangum Sts. was subsequently completed in 1925. Around that time the church had at least sixty members. In 1957, members added an education building, fellowship hall, and steeple east of the sanctuary.
